A Letter From Chet
"The First Time I Ever Met Gordie"
Gordie was the best man I had the honor to meet in college. He was also the first. I had just entered into the strange new world that is dorm life and before I could even set down my first box in the tiny room, there was Gordie smiling away at me from my door way. "Hey you must be Cowboys roomate!", he said.
All I could think of, was cowboy who???? Gordies intuitive kindness quickly read my blank stare and replied, "Cowboy is Adam, your roommate - forget it, we'll get to that later - you need a hand?… I am all set already, just down the hall. This is awesome, were gonna have so much fun...is that a lacrosse stick? you look like a big player haha."
From that first meeting, his friendliness, happiness, and caring attitude were infectious. I could not help but be drawn to him and want to be around him. He was the most charismatic and enjoyable person I had ever met and have ever met since. I loved from the first time I met him and will never forget him.
It is in that spirit that the GORD group has been formed, and it is his memory that has motivated us to make sure nobody is needlessly lost, as Gordie was, ever again.
Sincerely,
James “Chet” Hanna
